Not Another Story!

by Tony Leone, csc

My wife's words: "Not Another Story!"  She really developed a reading disability when I started writing. It's my "Genes" thing as most of her siblings would not crack a cover if you pressed a loaded gun to their heads. Her parents are Italian immigrants who had trouble speaking English. They experienced little difficulty in producing offspring; an entire tribe!

My parents were in the same boat so to speak except Pop was on his second wife who is my mother and much too tired to
experience a lot of childbirth episodes. She is Irish and stubborn in many ways. This is one of them; no more kids!

I consider myself a " self-made man " but it is evident in many instances that I never finished the job! As octogenarians,
my wife and I have short-term goals and reaching the kitchen then the refrigerator is one of them. Our little, most ugly
Boxer is eight years old and getting gray in the jowls as he strains to achieve more patience within his enhanced domain.

We shop slower and buy less but my personal business has picked up; I visit the bathroom more often. My wife of many moons had invented new swear words and the little Boxer recognizes them all as their utterances affect the delivery  of his noisy food requests.

Back to work in a silent house as Mom is in Maine for a week.
