Easter,  2008

Easter dinner was with Robin and Keith's family at our dinner table.  We had beef and turkey and all the trimmings.
The grandchildren had an Easter egg hunt at Mariannne's house, the Easter bunny left so many plastic eggs, with each child's name on, and filled with chocolate candy. Russ and I didn't get any. They all went to movies, too, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and another one I cannot remember the name.  Then most got Rocky's Pizza and Indian food, we passed on that and came home to the peace and quiet.

Spring may have actually came to Wisconsin - Warm days and the snow banks are slowly shrinking. Only the very big ones are left. Piles of gravel are on the grass where Russ scooped too deeply.

With the warm weather, the motorcyclists are out and about on their bikes. Suppose with the price of gas ($3.30) they are happy to be able to ride instead of automobiles and trucks.

So we have been cleaning more outbuildings. Throwing away stuff, and setting unwanted junk by the road with a 'free' sign. Today we have an old table and two lamps, so far no takers, but did get rid of a grain auger, an old air conditioner, a bench and other stuff. Russ even sold his old Walmart riding lawnmower for $50 with no battery. The engine was slowly dying, but it looked real good with it's leather seat. The person that bought it, lived in Hortonville, drove it home and said he would recondition the engine as he had a small lawn.

Went through a lot of historical boxes and sent old family documents and pictures to the younger people. I shan't need them any more.  Russ had a bad cold and sore throat all week, but so far I did not get it. We even had to miss two dances. Hope to go this week.

We are getting a second pastor in our Greenville Lutheran church, Rev. Joel Heckendorf from the Schofield area. He will be installed next Sunday. Pot luck lunch. Pope Benedict from the Roman Catholic Church will be in New York City April 15.  We saw him two years ago in the Vatican, but will pass on seeing him this time. Don't think he will want to come to our Wisconsin Farm.
Had to babysit with Marianne's children a couple days. Marianne and Scott went to a Gordon Lightfoot concert at the Performing Arts Center. He was a 70's singer and they said they were the youngest people in the packed house audience. This weekend Marianne went to Chicago for two nights with her twin mother's group, they like to get together a couple times a year. Scott went to the opening Milwaukee Brewers Baseball game.
Had a minor election for school board and municipal and state judges. We passed on that, didn't know any of the candidates. This week is the Annual Dale Town Meeting.
The Lion's Club was selling roses, Russ got me a dozen beautiful red roses. He must really like me.
Russell's last uncle passed away, Art Zorn who was married to his Father Louie's sister Florence. He was 81. Then the family took us out to a fancy place to eat, Chicken and ham.
Easter was early this year, March 23. Schools were on spring break, Matt came up for two days. But on Good Friday they had 12 inches of snow in Milwaukee.
This week we are waiting for the barn swallows to come back, the same day every year they make their appearance. Insects are waking up too, have lady bugs and box elder bugs on the windows. Take walks around the subdivision when we have the strength, to hear the birds, wild geese, cranes and owls. Even heard a wood pecker pecking away in the swamp.

All the news for this month.
